DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN SOFIA
Arrival in Sofia. Transfer from the airport to the hotel. Overnight stay.
DAY 2 – SOFIA CITY TOUR
Breakfast in the hotel. 2 hours guided walking tour in Sofia with all of the main sites: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Saint Sofia Basilica, Saint George Rotunda, the Roman Remains, and many more. After this – free time. Overnight stay.
DAY 3 –DAY TRIP TO KOPRIVSHTITSA
Breakfast in the hotel. At 9 am – departure to Koprivshtitsa – the most famous and well–preserved Bulgarian Revival village with its colorful 19- century houses. The traveling time to Koprivshtitsa is about 2 hours on a very scenic road. There, you will visit about 5 of the old houses, which nowadays work as house – museums. You will see their authentic old-style decoration and you will also learn more about the struggle for the Nation liberation from Ottoman rule during this 19-century period. After this, 2 hours of free time for shopping and for a lunch break. At 3:00 pm departure back to Sofia. Free time and overnight stay.
DAY 4 – DAY TRIP TO PLOVDIV
Breakfast in the hotel. At 9 am – departure to Plovdiv – the oldest existing town in Europe! The drive to Plovdiv is about 2 hours. In Plovdiv – 2 hours guided tour in the old town where you will see the Revival houses, the Roman theater and Stadium, and other interesting sites. After the guided tour: 2.5 hours of free time for shopping and for a lunch break. At 3:30 pm departure back to Sofia. Free time and overnight stay.
DAY 5 – DAY TRIP TO RILA MONASTERY AND BOYANA CHURCH
Breakfast in the hotel. At 9 am – departure to the Rila Monastery – the most famous and beautiful Bulgarian monastery and UNESCO heritage site. The traveling time to the monastery is about 2 hours on a scenic road. In the monastery: 45-minute guided tour and 2.5 hours of free time (for photos, shopping, museums, and lunch break). On the way back to Sofia – stop and visit the Boyana Church – another UNESCO heritage site, famous for its 13-century frescoes. At 5:30 pm return to the hotel. Free time and overnight stay.
DAY 6 – DAY TRIP TO VELIKO TARNOVO
Breakfast in the hotel. At 8 am – departure to Veliko Tarnovo – the capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The traveling time is about 3 hours. There, you will have a 2-hours guided tour during which you will see the old fortress, the old churches, and the old market street. After the tour – 2.5 hours of free time for shopping and for a lunch break. The expected return in Sofia will be at 7 pm. Overnight stay.
DAY 7 – FREE DAY IN SOFIA
Breakfast in the hotel. Free day in Sofia during which you will have the chance to do shopping or visit museums and other interesting places. Overnight stay.
DAY 8 – DEPARTURE FROM SOFIA
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer from the hotel to the airport.
